Once we completed the initial prototype and tested it within the campus, we decided to take inputs from the people who will actually use it.
We visited the National Association for Blind Delhi, RK Puram in New Delhi, and spent time with the visually impaired helpline executives that work there.

We explained our project to them and showed them our implementation of the bus module device and the application. We also showed them various features of the application. They also told us what kind of problems they face on buses and what their daily commute is like.

They were really happy to hear that our solution didn’t require any sort of internet connectivity on the user end. Based on their use of the app and their inputs, we got to know some key improvements that needed to be made in the application design.
Based on their feedback, we added functionality to control the application using volume keys on the smartphone. We also changed the button placement and updated the colors to aid people who suffer from color blindness.
The people at NAB Delhi were extremely friendly. The way visually impaired people overcome the challenges they face is incomparable. We felt a sense of pride to be working on something that would ease their daily life. On seeing other students and workers there, we realized that there are several other technological solutions that can be developed for visually impaired people.

Overall, it was an enriching experience for us and we got to learn a lot.
