We have implemented the basic functionality that our project requires and also tested it out. After finishing our project we took feedback from people at NAB , Dr Balakrishnan Sir and Vikas Sir. From the feedback that we got there we think that some more functionalities should be added to make the product more useful:
- Right now the app has a speak button and the person has to click that button to get the next three stop. Instead of using button on the screen we can assign the volume button of the phone to act like a Query Button.
- Our project Deboard provide debording assistance for visually impaired, there is another product built by Assistech IIT Delhi which has a similar bus module and it provides boarding assistance for visually impaired. Instead of using 2 separate solutions we can combine the solution with only one bus module and App.
- We can scale our functionality down to a single hand held device which provides both boarding and deboarding assistance, and costs a modest amount.
- In the current solution we are using Raspberry Pi as the bus module and also to advertise the next three stops. Raspberry Pi uses Eddystone URL and as it is an older technology there are chances of package drop which makes our system slow in some cases. As our project was a proof of concept we used the Eddystone URL beacon. But to improve the speed of the system we can use external beacons and newer technology.
